The Gois causeway links the mainland to the island of Noirmoutier by 4.2 kilometres of submersible road: at high tide, the sea covers it entirely. A unique site that generations of locals crossed on foot, by cart, then by car, always watching the tide table.
A film to the rhythm of the tides
At the entrance of the crossing, our free-access kiosk tells this singular relationship between people and the sea, in an immersive film reaching back to the 18th century: historical reconstructions of the Gois of old, period crossings and aerial footage answer one another.
Open access, in all weathers
Free and open to all, in all weathers, the kiosk has welcomed visitors to this emblematic Vendée site since 2020, to the rhythm of the tides.
