The Élysée Palace
The French Presidency opened the doors of the Élysée Palace to us for the European Heritage Days. Home to French heads of state since 1848, the palace holds a dense history that the public only gets to see a few days a year: our brief was to bring it to life for those visitors.
In 2022, the Élysée celebrated its 300th anniversary. For the occasion, eight Timescope kiosks were installed in the main courtyard and the gardens. Each one opens a virtual window onto the past: reconstructions of the great events that shaped the palace, historical figures, little-known stories, back to the 1889 World’s Fair whose memory lives on in the Élysée gardens.
Every reconstruction rests on rigorously documented historical content, rendered in full 360-degree immersion. Heritage Days visitors crowded around the kiosks to explore the courtyard and gardens as they had never seen them.
In September 2022, the team presented its work at the palace alongside the President of the French Republic, at the opening of the Heritage Days exhibition.
